Valencia, ZaZa.. talk to me
|
https://www.theguardian.com/football/valencia
"Valencia continued their excellent start to the La Liga season by beating Real Betis 6-3 away, rising to second in the table. Valencia risked throwing away the win when they let in three goals in five minutes but they seized all the points with an 88th-minute strike from their top scorer, Simone Zaza, who claimed his seventh goal of the campaign."
7 in 8!
Is this another Mascherano thing?

Went down with Bilicivitis didn't he, loads over there have gone down with it over the last couple of years, not many fully recover sadly and all are quarantined and shipped out. It's been of epidemic proportions, but seems to be more under control of late, that said there remains no cure unless the route cause is addressed.

He’s a good player - just wasn’t suited to route one football.
Pele, Conte, Zidane all rate him highly as technically sound - great striker of the ball, two good feet, strong, decent pace.
He probably thought ‘what the fuck is this?’ while isolated up front with missiles lobbed to his bonce.
Wrong place, wrong time.

Didn't Torres have a knee problem that needed fixing? I think he had surgery after he scored the winner in the final for Spain and was never the same again.
I suspect there is a lot in the story of Za Za being head fucked after the penalty miss, combined with the added pressure of the 20 game contract countdown. If he'd managed even a fluke or two in the first few run outs, it may have been a different story, but it wasn't to be.

As Grumpster says, Zaza is just not suited to the pace of the Premier League. Even Calleri has popped in the odd goal in Spain.
Let's hope the same problem doesn't apply to Toni Martinez!

I watched Zaza against a ‘British team’ in ROI in the Euros Then I saw his sculpted facial hair
Anyone who signed him for the EPL after that is an idiot

I think he’d had an injury and people thought he’d stopped trying because he wanted to go after Xabi Alonso left Turns out he wasn’t the same player any more

Torres last year at Liverpool had already started to show his decline he scored 9 in 26 or 0.34 goals a game
which was along way under his previous average which was very nearly double that

I had seen him be a lot better than what he showed for us and for that reason, I would have like him to be given more time, circumstances allowing. From my understanding, the contract he was brought in on kind of limited how many chances he could be given but I could be wrong.
Bad situations at the club but bad head space for him and ultimately he did not show he wanted it. Shame but that's life at West Ham.

Mascherano started 5 games, Zaza started 6."
Christ, it felt like Zaza started a LOT more.

Zaza simply didnt want to be here and that effected his performances. i think if he'd got a goal early on it might have been different but these things dont always work out. i was happy when we signed him and thought he would do well.
i read somewhere that 'that' penalty miss was on his mind a lot, think hes only just got it out of his system.
good luck to him.

How many more times? He is a good player but was shit for us. Soemtimes it just happens. Mascherano is incomparable as he didn't get the run of games that Zaza did. Had he of done then I think he would have showed what a quality player he was.

His Dad blamed the weather? I'm pretty sure that it was sweltering in the stadium for pretty much every game through to October.

Freddi Kanouté was similar to Forlan. Averaged about 10 goals a season in 5 years for us and Spurs and then more than double that at Sevilla.

Torres was bizarre. Looked a world beater at Liverpool but just fell apart. Falcao as well just didn't adapt to English football but has been knocking them in again on the continent.

Not just us this happens to, remember Diego Forlan. Shite here and mustard in Spain.
Christ some players don't even have to change leagues to have completely polar opposite performances.
Torres for Liverpool was great and became a totally different players once driving south down the M1.

Very good player in leagues that aren't 100 miles an hour throughout,.
Not suited to English football and was awful for us, though some of the football we played at the beginning of last season might have made any fucker struggle up front.
